Prepare for a race with friends

  1. Agree on the format

Decide whether your group wants regular speeders or the dedicated high-speed podracing events. That determines the maximum grid size you are planning around.

  2. Prepare cross-platform connections

Steam players need Epic Online Services installed for crossplay. Managing and inviting non-Steam friends requires signing into an Epic Games account.

  3. Give each player their own setup

Online competition does not provide a second local driving view. Friends racing together need their own device and game access rather than a shared split-screen session.

A friend leaderboard is a different activity

Arcade’s connected leaderboard compares best times with friends. It is not a public leaderboard, and beating a friend’s time is not the same as entering a simultaneous multiplayer race. Choose Arcade when you want to improve a lap or challenge result at your own pace; choose Online Multiplayer when you want other racers present on the course.

The game also has substantial solo options. Campaign, Scenarios and Arcade events can be played offline, while online races and connected leaderboards need an internet connection. If your purchase depends on couch competition, keep that distinction in mind: offline solo play does not create local multiplayer.
